Exam week fails the same way every time: students start with their favorite subject, run out of days, and meet the hardest paper exhausted. A game plan fixes the order of battle before the week begins.
Rank papers by risk, not liking
List every exam with its date and your current confidence. Hardest-and-soonest gets the morning slots when focus peaks; strongest subjects get lighter maintenance sessions. Write the schedule down — memory is not a plan.
Cap study days at six focused hours. Beyond that, returns collapse and sleep — the real memory consolidator — suffers.
The 3-pass revision method
Pass one: blurting — recall each topic cold and note gaps. Pass two: targeted repair on gaps only. Pass three: timed past papers under exam conditions. Most students skip straight to pass three and wonder why scores stall.
The night before each paper: light review, packed bag, early bed. Cramming past 10pm borrows points from tomorrow.
Memory is not a plan. Write the schedule down before the week begins.
Your five-point checklist
- Schedule hardest-and-soonest papers first.
- Cap focused study at six hours a day.
- Run blurting, repair, then timed papers.
- Protect sleep like it's part of the syllabus.
Share the plan with a parent or tutor — accountability doubles follow-through. Then execute one block at a time. Calm is a strategy, not a personality trait.
